How to tune a mandolin
- Press Start Tuning and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Play one note. Pluck a single string or play one key, close to the microphone, and let it ring.
- Read the display. The big letter is the nearest note. The bar shows how far off you are: left is flat (tune up), right is sharp (tune down).
- Turn until it goes green. Inside your tolerance (±3 cents by default) the display turns green and the string gets a check mark.
Tips
- Tune one string of a pair at a time. Mute the other with a finger.
- After both strings read green, play them together and listen for a slow “wobble”. No wobble means they match.
